PW is probably the perfect definition of "waste of time". my friend was from the pilot PW batch, and apparently, almost all of them gave feedback to MOE that it was a complete waste of time. but no. MOE has already thought of such a "brilliant" idea, one that would invigorate the minds of the students and allow them to think critically and think on their feet. absolutely scintillating.
so it makes no sense to scrap such a perfectly crafted plan to destroy, i mean help the students in JC. so, ignoring all the clamours for scrapping PW, MOE had kindly gifted us with the opportunity to enjoy the full benefits of such a wonderful programme. after all, there's no harm spending 7+ months on a project to eventually present it to a panal of judges. after all, we have absolutely no use for the 7 months. we wouldn't have spent it on studies would we?
i must say i have thoroughly enjoyed the past months working on my idiotic, i mean meaningful project that would benefit society greatly. i would also be looking forward to presenting this scintillating topic to an expert panel of judges that comprises of random teacher plucked out from my school, ranging from chemistry tutors to geography tutors. and of course i would be looking forward to receiving the scathing attacks that the esteemed judges would have on my project.
and at the end of it, i would look back at the past few months with a sense of achievement, knowing that i probably wasn't the only one who got blasted by judges. i would also take comfort in the fact that 1000 students in my school, and the thousands more islandwide, had partook in this total waste of time with me, spending their valuable 8+ months on a project that, in the end, would not be implemented no matter what. and at the end of my JC life, i would look back at PW with such fondness; fond memories of time wasted at KAP and KFC trying to connect to the wireless internet, fond memories of how our PW meeting time was wasted at Coro eating chicken rice, fond memories of how we had great ambitions of implementing power naps in schools, something that everyone already does during lectures and tutorials.
and at the end of it all, i would, in all political correctness, praise PW as much as i had praised the IP system.
alas the esteemed subject is going to be scraped next year, and it is truly saddening that we are the final batch taking this truly exciting and invigorating subject. if only my juniors could go through all the fun that PW has to offer. all i have to say is that they would be missing out on probably the best thing that has happened to me so far
the chance to criticise MOE till no tomorrow.
