alright so i just got back from Thailand, after a rather productive study trip. why a study trip you ask? maybe, just maybe it's cause i went there with a backpack and all that was in there was my chem notes, history notes, econs notes, math tutorials, a big stack of writing paper, my pencil box and 2 library books.
how fun.
so yeah while Phuket is supposed to be a place for relaxation, there i was trying to cramp most of my studying into 4 days to prepare for the dreaded block test. and while i was there, i did my usual thinking about various stuff.
first i was wondering why in the world would you call a block test, a block test. i mean, why not mid year examinations? after all, it is in the month of June, and June is roughly the middle of the year right? so why of all names a "block test"? a few astute observations i have made over countless, well, minutes of debating with myself.
one keen possibility is that it is because the test is done in a block. what block you might ask? perhaps a block of 3 hours for my history paper. or maybe even in some schools, literally a block, which of course refers to the building. but common to most schools would be that it is done in a classroom. well what does a "classroom" have to do with a "block"? perhaps it is because most, and i stress the word "most", classrooms are rectangular, or even squarish. and a room is three dimensional, and the classrooms are mostly stacked one onto the other in the form of levels, thus the keen resemblance to a block. hmmm...
well of course another possibility (one that i subscribe to most fervently and with great conviction) is the inconvenient truth, that after this test, considering that the JC system spreads out our overall marks, you will lose a huge block of your grades. this seems a better explanation i must say.
well enough of all this crap. back to Thailand. Phuket. or rather it's Phuket, Thailand. then of course if i go on like this it would be Phuket, Thailand, Southeast Asia, Asia, World, Solar System, Milky Way, Universe, God's happy place.
alright, seriously back to Thailand. i mean Phuket
so i was studying. but i mean, i can't actually study all the way can i? so yeah i did do a bit of walking around, look at some (cheap) stuff, buy lots of (cheap) stuff and all that. so yeah i did quite a lot of walking on the first day there cause it was my mom's birthday and i insisted on buying a cake. so i walked out late at night along the streets, and boy, you will not believe the streets of Thailand.
what did i see on the streets of Thailand? man i could make a documentary just about what you see on the Thai streets. on the streets, just that night, i saw a total of 4 trans. you know what that is right? i mean i could actually use the more crude version of the word, but my blog is a clean blog man. so yeah, if you need an explanation, sms me. i'll just.. well.. nevermidn. anyway, yeah i saw four of them. but i mean, 4 is just the number that i saw. it was dark for goodness sake. and the four i saw were probably the ones who had crappy doctors. there could have been a whole army of them out there and i wouldn't have known. other than that i also saw like 3 women swarming an American guy. ok maybe he wasn't American. but he was Caucasian. yeah so 3 women swarming him. and i can assure you it wasn't to get him to buy skin care products or some shit.
just one night and whoa... but yeah so after walking like how long, i finally gave up and my dad and i decided just to get muffins and stick a candle in it. so we went to Starbucks to get some muffins. so i asked for two muffins, and when the woman opened her mouth i was like "damn she's a he!" now she, i mean he, had a good doctor. definitely. after all, the only thing a doctor can't correct is the voice. and besides she/he was growing a moustache. talk about gross.
yeah but that's Thailand. people have the misconception that Thailand is full of gays and trans. well... i guess that's not a misconception anymore. it's probably true. as a sidenote, the Thais do have good rice. yeah. nice rice. fragrant. cheaper than Singapore too.
well yeah, so probably the only other time i went out was for dinner, and of course i also went to the shopping mall with my family on one occasion, but i didn't really do any shopping. just went to a nearby starbucks and ordered a coffee and studied again. and after two coffees i still could sleep on the couch in Starbucks. crappy coffee..
but yeah that was probably it. an uneventful study trip. ok maybe not so uneventful. some, well, sights seen. other than that, uneventful
