yet another post on social crap.
today i was in Popular. you know the bookstore. and i saw a horrific sight. totally horrific. there was a parent who bought a mountain pile of assessment books for her son/daughter. and those were p4 assessment books. total of about 135 bucks worth of assessment. and now 1 assessment book is say 10 bucks. so like more than 13 assessments. like what the hell? P4, and the child is getting shit loads of assessment books. more than i've done in the whole of p6. and mind you p6 is a crucial year, so imagine what would happen what that child reaches p6.
seriously. do we need to do so much assessments? does assessment books help improve a child? sure it helps with the grades, but what's the fixation with grades anyways. grades seriously gets you just this far. the rest grades can't help you. my father has a friend who failed almost all of his A levels. failed. now he has a P.h.D in some neuro science crap and works in a hospital. by the way, this neuro science thing is super hard. not like conventional medicine. seriously, getting 6 points for o levels or getting all A in the A levels is not all. so why get assessments? 2 to 4 is fine. like maybe 1 or 2 per subject, but that amount is crazy.
so much for Christmas. imagine the parent going home and passing the child all the assessment books and saying "merry christmas son/daughter. now go do"
stupid society. stupid kiasu mentality.
oh yeah.
Merry Christmas
